Questions & Answers
FAQ
Everything you need to know about our coffee and how we work.
Coffee & Process
Our coffee is hand-roasted in the Durbanville farmlands — a small-batch approach that lets us dial in each roast for the bean's unique character. We source with intention and roast with care, because connection starts with what's in the cup.
Sugar-cane decaffeination uses a natural ethyl acetate compound derived from fermented sugar cane to gently remove caffeine. It preserves the coffee's body, sweetness, and complexity far better than chemical processes — which is why Gold Lineage tastes like a real coffee, not a compromise.
Washed coffees are fermented and washed clean before drying — the result is clarity and brightness, letting the bean's terroir shine. Natural process coffees dry inside the fruit, absorbing fruit sugars as they go, producing heavier body and fruit-forward sweetness. Crimson Kin uses both, blended for balance.
Beans & Flavour
If you want big and bold, start with Crimson Kin. If you prefer smooth and layered, Green Legacy is your cup. And if you're caffeine-free, Gold Lineage will surprise you — it drinks like a full-origin coffee.
Our current range is sourced from a primary origin partner and roasted as single-origin lots. We may blend across origins for specific profiles as the range grows — we'll always be transparent on the label.
Grind & Brewing
Choose "Beans" to grind fresh at home — always the best option for flavour. If you don't have a grinder, we grind to order for your specific brew method. Our grind options are: Beans, French Press, Filter, Chemex, Espresso, Pour Over, AeroPress, and Moka Pot — just tell us which one when you order.
Yes. Just let us know your preferred grind when you place your order via WhatsApp. Ground coffee is packed and dispatched within 24–48 hours of your order — so it reaches you fresh.
Freshness & Roast Dates
Every bag carries a roast date. We recommend brewing within 2–6 weeks of the roast date for peak flavour — the "rest period" after roasting allows CO₂ to off-gas and flavours to settle.
Store in the sealed bag in a cool, dry place away from light and heat. Do not freeze unless you're dividing into single-use portions. Avoid the fridge — moisture is the enemy of freshness. Our roasted coffee comes in speciality sealed bags designed for long-lasting freshness: a one-way valve lets CO₂ escape naturally after roasting, while keeping O₂ out — so your coffee stays fresh and vibrant for longer.
